Dear All,

  At the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (IPE-CSIC, Spain), we are looking for candidates interested in applying for a PREDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (FPI) associated with the project GYPSME: EVALUATING SULFUR METABOLISM IN PLANTS FROM GYPSUM SOILS (Ref. PID2024-159400NB-I00).

  The main goal of the project is to advance our understanding of SULFUR METABOLISM IN WILD PLANTS showing different affinities to gypsum soils. We aim to generate new knowledge that will help elucidate both SULFUR ACCUMULATION IN PLANTS and the EVOLUTIONARY PROCESSES that have enabled plant life in these extreme environments.

  Although the OFFICIAL FPI 2025 CALL has not yet been announced, we have already started the search for potential candidates. You can find more details in the attached PDF.

  🚨 PHD OPPORTUNITY – PLANT SULFUR METABOLISM IN GYPSUM SOILS 🚨

  The Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (IPE-CSIC, Spain) is looking for highly motivated candidates for a 4-YEAR FPI PHD FELLOWSHIP (Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities) linked to the project GYPSME: EVALUATING SULFUR METABOLISM IN PLANTS FROM GYPSUM SOILS.

  🔬 The project combines MULTI-OMICS, EXPERIMENTAL CULTIVATION, AND FIELD SURVEYS to explore how plants adapt and evolve in extreme gypsum environments.

  📅 PRE-APPLICATIONS UNTIL OCTOBER 31ST, 2025 (official call not yet open).
📍 Location: IPE-CSIC (Zaragoza & Jaca, Spain) + stays in national & international labs.
👩‍🔬 Supervisors: Sara Palacio, Pablo Tejero, Diego Moreno.

  We seek candidates with BSC + MSC IN BIOLOGY/ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES/BIOINFORMATICS/BIOCHEMISTRY, strong academic records, interest in ecology/evolutionary biology, bioinformatics skills (R/Python), and high motivation for research.
