Dear colleagues and friends,
I would greatly appreciate your help in advertising the following position call in our lab at Uni Bonn:
Programmer in Ecological Modelling (Full-time 100%; permanent)
Our team’s research focusses on mechanistic biodiversity modelling across spatiotemporal scales and levels of organisation (from individual to ecosystems, under natural and human- induced scenarios). We combine ecological and eco-evolutionary models with field work and data analyses to understand and predict biodiversity dynamics. To support our team, we seek a scientific programmer and modeller. For more information on our lab, please visit: https://www.biologie.uni-bonn.de/biob/de/biob/biob_botanik/ag-sarmento-cabral.

• Promoting best practices in modelling and data management among group members,
• Support for analysis and processing of raw data (e.g., images or LiDAR).
Your profile:
• Skill and experience in scientific software programming, demonstrated through successful Bachelor and Master degrees in computer science, geoecology, biology, physics, mathematics, or similar disciplines,
• Strong experience and knowledge in programming mechanistic, individual-based and/or theoretical ecological as well as eco-evolutionary models,
• Experience with AI methods, parallel and high-performance computing, interactive software, and front-end development is advantageous,
• Experience in programming with multiple computer languages (e.g., R, Julia, Java, MATLAB, C++) and in parameterising models is desirable,
