As human‑altered environments become increasingly widespread, they can host notable biodiversity but also face serious challenges such as degradation, biological invasions, and the loss of native species. Understanding how plants regenerate under these conditions
is essential to restore these landscapes and enhance their resilience.</div>

The PhD project will examine how seed traits shape plant communities in disturbed and invaded habitats, identifying mechanisms that allow native species to persist alongside human activity and resist invasive plants.</div>

The research will combine global data synthesis, fieldwork, and local experimentation. Globally, the candidate will conduct a meta‑analysis on the seed regeneration niche of plants adapted to human‑modified environments. Regionally, the work will focus on the
Cantabrian Mixed Forests ecoregion in northern Spain, testing native seed mixes designed for ecological restoration.</div>
