<b>RESUMEN PROYECTO:</b> Este proyecto de tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo determinar el efecto relativo de factores ambientales, como la humedad y la temperatura, y factores relacionados con el hospedador, como la edad, el sexo y el estado de salud (incluido
la microbiota intestinal), así como la densidad del hospedador (y del vector) y su composición genética sobre la abundancia de patógenos transmitidos por garrapatas, en un marco explícito espacial y temporal. Para este propósito, se utilizará al ratón de campo
(<i>Apodemus sylvaticus</i> Linnaeus, 1758), un roedor común con distribución a nivel europeo, como especie modelo de hospedador, enfocándose las poblaciones de tres áreas protegidas en España, donde ocupan hábitats que abarcan diferentes características de
temperatura, humedad y paisaje, lo que permitirá que los resultados sean extrapolados a otras áreas a través de modelización predictiva. El solicitante llevará a cabo el genotipado tanto a los hospedadores como a los patógenos (que incluyen bacterias, eucariotas
y virus) mediante técnicas de alto rendimiento para la identificación de especies, con el fin de explorar la posible correlación entre su diversidad y abundancia, así como una serie de factores bióticos y abióticos que varían en el espacio y el tiempo. Al
identificar los principales factores determinantes y, por lo tanto, los mejores predictores para modelar la transmisión de patógenos zoonóticos, este proyecto producirá beneficios para las especies silvestres (efecto sobre la biodiversidad), el ganado (efecto
sobre la economía local) y las comunidades humanas (efecto sobre la salud).</div>
