We have an open 4-year PhD student position in Plant Evolutionary <br>

Genomics.<br>

<br>

The PhD student will investigate the evolutionary drivers and genomic <br>

consequences of pollen evolution in association with shifts in <br>

pollination mode in flowering plants. The work will involve comparative <br>

genomic analyses in a phylogenetic framework, as well as population <br>

genomic and transcriptomic analyses in suitable plant systems.<br>

<br>

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated candidate with <br>

a strong interest and training in evolutionary genomics. Skills in <br>

coding and/or botany are beneficial but not required.<br>

The PhD position is fully funded and is part of the large <br>

interdisciplinary project “Harnessing evolutionary transitions, machine <br>

learning, and genomics to decode pollen evolution and unravel sexual <br>

selection mechanisms shared across kingdoms” led by Prof. Tanja Slotte <br>

in close collaboration with co-investigators Prof. John Fitzpatrick, <br>

Prof. Catarina Rydin, and Dr. Allison Hsiang at Stockholm University.<br>

<br>

The PhD student will join the research group of Prof. Tanja Slotte <br>

(tanjaslottelab.se) and will be enrolled in the research subject Ecology <br>

and Evolution at the Dept. of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences, <br>

Stockholm University. The working atmosphere is international with <br>

English as the working language, and the position offers plenty of <br>

opportunities for scientific exchange with both evolutionary <br>

geneticists, plant biologists, and ecologists. The city of Stockholm is <br>

known for its beauty, its buildings and architecture and its abundant <br>

clean and open water.<br>
